What have we done?
What do we do?
With so much clamor
and so much truth?

I played several interactive fiction games (aka IF) while on vacation and found “Violet” to be the most enjoyable. The setting is simple, the dialog/narrative is very well written, and the goal is something that you feel compelled to achieve. I even laughed out loud in several places. Use the link above to play online or play it on your iPhone or iPod using Frotz.

I can’t help but think that a lot of the gameplay we enjoy so much in modern games comes from IF. The narratives and dialogs of Bethesda’s games definitely come to mind.

It appears that Battlefield Heroes is now out of beta. I’m looking forward to trying it out. The price is certainly right (it’s free, by the way).

Rock, Paper, Shotgun’s Jim Rossignol took a 7+ hour drive through Fuel’s 5,560 square miles of terrain and lived to write about it. Roaming through the open world definitely seems like the big draw for this game, though the helicopter chase mode sounds like a blast.

For Father’s Day, my wife and kids got me a t-shirt version of this awesome Star Wars poster. Here’s more info on the art, in case you’re interested:

From The Star Wars Posters Book:
(United States / 1999 / 24x36)
For this 1999 Star Wars Fan Club exclusive poster by Australian artist Hugh Fleming, the bearded artist featured himself as one of the Star Wars groupies in the audience. The piece was commissioned to accompany a story in Star Wars Insider, the official fan club magazine in the United States, about rock bands and music influenced by the original trilogy.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem! by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith

I saw this book on the best-sellers rack at Books-a-Million and thought it looked awesome. I can only hope there will be a movie adaptation starring Keira Knightley and Simon Pegg!
