The word “draught” in British English
Today I was looking for a more interesting way to learn CSS…a lesson in the form of a game, preferably. I happened across a site called CSSplay, which isn’t quite what I was looking for, but interesting, nevertheless. Anyways, I was reading a bit about the author in which he said he was a retired “draughtsman” from the UK…and something in my head clicked (the little lightbulb, I’d imagine). I had read the word “draught” many times in print and never once thought to pronounce it “draft” until I saw this. In my head I’ve always pronounced it more like the word “drought”. So, now when I read a British author and come across the word, I’ll know how to pronounce it correctly.
